How to Quickly Start a Meeting with Google Meet

Google Meet is Google’s free and easy to use video conferencing tool. Watch this video to learn how to get on a Google Meet call quickly & easily.

In order to use Google Meet, you’ll need to already have a Google account set up. If you have a Gmail, Google Photos, or YouTube account already set up, you’re good to go.
To begin, open a browser window on your computer and go to meet.google.com. Then click Join or Start a Meeting. Type in what you want to call your meeting, then click Continue. A meeting window will then be opened. Before you join into your call, you can turn your audio or video on or off using the buttons at the bottom of the video window. When you’re ready click Join Now. Once you’re in the meeting you can invite other people to join you. Your meeting info and link will be listed in a pop-up window. If you’d like to send the meeting info using an instant messaging service, click Copy Joining Info, then paste the information in a message to whoever you want to join you. You can also invite others by clicking Add People. Here you can invite others through email or call. If you want someone to call in from their phone, click Call, then type in their phone number, and click the phone button to dial them in. To invite through email, click the names of contacts you want to invite, or type in their email addresses in the text box above. When you’re done selecting contacts, click Send Email. Once the other participants receive your invite and join in, you’re ready to enjoy your meeting.
Google Meet is quite easy to control. Once you’re in a meeting, you can easily turn your camera or microphone on or off using the buttons at the bottom of your screen. You’ll also see options for captions and screen sharing. In the top right corner you can access your meeting’s text chat thread, as well as a list of all the people currently on the call.
When you’re ready to end your call, click the red phone button at the bottom to leave.
