Adulteration is a practice of substituting the original drug completely or partially with other similar looking substance  The substance, which is mixed, is either free from or inferior in quality in terms of chemical and therapeutic properties. The substance which is added with the original drug is called adulterants. Adulterants are either of substandard verities of the original crude drug or inferior drug or artificially prepared or other substance which are present in the original drug which decrease its quality. In general term adulteration is devaluation of any substance by adding or subtracting any thing with the original substance which decreases the quality of that substance and may be  injurious to health and may cause variety of adverse effects from mild, moderate to severe life threatening reactions. It has been studied in many report that the adverse drug reaction happens not due to the administration of genuine drug but due to the presence of adulterants in it. So, understanding of all the methods of adulteration and its evaluation technique is necessary to rectify this illegal act and maximizing consumers' safety. This adulteration may be done intentionally or unintentionally. Intentional adulteration is a criminal act and punishable offense, usually in case of crude drug. The motives behind the intentional adulteration  are normally commercial one and originate mainly with the intention of enhancement of profits.

The solution is about to start adulteration evaluation series in which we will follow the guidelines and demonstrate the presence of adulteration in any given sample. in today's video, we showed - how to find adulteration of starch in ghee. this process consists of following steps-

1- Take few ml of Ghee sample which you want to check for starch
2- Add few drops of Iodine solution and mix it
3- Observe the colour change
4- If the colour of iodine solution remains as it is that means ghee has no starch on it. but it doesn't mean that it is absolutely pure. it may have another impurity.
5- If the colour of ghee changes to light to dark blue, it means ghee is having starch.

घी में स्टार्च के मिलावट  का तरीका बहुत आसान है, पूरा प्रोसेस कुछ इस तरह है
१- घी की कुछ मात्रा लेकर उसमें आयोडीन की कुछ बूँदें मिलाइये
२- इस सैंपल को  अच्छे से मिक्स कीजिये
३- अगर आयोडीन का कलर चेंज नहीं होता है तो इस घी के सैंपल में कोई स्टार्च का मिलावट नहीं है, पर इसमें किसी अन्य तरह के मिलावट हो सकते हैं. पर आज के वीडियो के लिए इसमें स्टार्च का मिलावट नहीं है
४- मिक्स करने के बाद अगर आयोडीन का कलर  नीला में चेंज हो जाता है तो उसमें स्टार्च का मिलवट है
