Word problem 1 Two beginners are flying a kite with a string of 50 meters,and are 35 meters apart. How high is the kite.
The Pythagorean Theorem can be used to solve this word problem.

Problem 2. How much wood is need to build the braces of a bard that is 12 feet by 16 feet. The barn door creates a right triangle with a base of 16 feet,and a height of 12 feet. The hypotenuse will be the length of the brace. Again,the Pythagorean Theorem comes to the rescue and calculates the length of the hypotenuse.
