This video continues with the idea of using the Pythagorean Theorem in word problems by looking at a more challenging example problem from the Khan Academy exercise linked below. The Pythagorean Theorem shows the relationship between the side lengths of a right triangle. A theorem is a statement in mathematics that has been proven true. This particular theorem is named after the Greek mathematician and philosopher Pythagoras who lived around 2500 years ago. It states that the sum two legs in a right triangle when squared are equal to the hypotenuse of the triangle squared (a^2 + b^2 = c^2). This theorem is useful for finding missing side lengths in a right triangle. Khan Academy exercise to practice: 1.
