On Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 2:21 am, officers in Ohio were dispatched to the regarding a crashed vehicle. Upon arrival, they identified the situation as a single motor vehicle accident. The vehicle, a green Audi RS-5 vehicle, was found facing a grass field, pressed against a heavily damaged guard rail. The car had sustained severe front and driver-side damage, and both side and front airbags were deployed.
The front passenger door opened as officers approached the car, revealing the female driver. When asked if medical attention was needed, the driver was the only passenger and felt "OK." explaining a "deer ran out in the middle of the road," adding she "had to swerve to avoid hitting it." Officers noted that the driver smelled of alcohol when talking with her. Officers asked if she had any alcoholic beverages this evening, and she stated, "Not at my dad's." Officers asked her again if she had consumed alcohol this evening, and she responded, "Yes, with a friend." Later telling officers she had two drinks.
Officers decided to administer Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs). However, the suspect was hesitant and wanted to wait for her mother's arrival, later agreeing. However, she became uncooperative and refused to proceed with the walk-and-turn test. Based on the tests and officers' observation, the suspect was arrested for suspected OVI and taken to the police department for further processing and to provide a breath sample.
Her confrontational behavior persisted there, declining to sign the 2255 form or provide a breath sample. Later, her mother arrived and was released into her care. The suspect was charged with OVI, OVI Refusal To Submit To Chemical Tests & Failure To Control.
