It started as a great weather for a hike to this beautiful mountain. Martin, Luis, Mike and myself set out for a training (day) hike to San Gorgonio with an elevation of 11,503 ft, towering all over the whole of Southern California.

By the time we reach 9,000 ft high, the clouds starts to accumulate above and move fast towards the summit area. At least that was how it looked like that day.

Some summiteers stayed only for 10 minutes at the summit, complaining it was too cold to stay. By the time we approach the summit, we knew something was brewing and the outcome won't be good for us.

After some photo opt and drinks, we took off and descend as fast as we could. We hit the saddle above the last switchback and had some hot meal and sandwiches. By the time we hit below High Creek, rain starts to drizzle and kept getting stronger by the minute. It didn't take long before hailstorm appeared. This time the surroundings become foggy.

We reached the Wilderness sign and clearly we heard the raging flow of water below us. Soon enough we reached the bottom and found out that flash flood kept the hikers ahead of us stranded.

There was no other way to get out of there but to cross that river bed which I passed by early that morning as bone dry. After taking risk and using common sense and presence of mind, we were able to find a passable spot to cross.

I hope with this video, viewers will somehow learn something especially the nature of this mountain.

All is well that ends well. It was a happy ending nevertheless.
