There's reasons beyond the purely aesthetic you'd want to take that bulky pickup cover off your new Rickenbacker 4003 bass. Sure it makes your bass look all retro, and you might even like resting your pickin' palm on it, but if you'd rather be able to palm mute, have room to play finger style, or otherwise not have the silly thing in the way, taking the cover off isn't too difficult.
