How to Make your Own 50% Vodka from Potatoes: How to Make your Own 50% Vodka from P... .
Hey folks in this film I'll be going through the entire process of making vodka from potatoes, all the way from ingredients through to tasting. The film was made over a four month period and includes the following stages:
1. Making a potato wine must from boiling potatoes and adding tomato paste as a nutrient.
2. Fermenting the potato must with Lalvin EC1118 champagne, sparking wine and cider yeast.
3. Running the potato wine at 15.75% ABV through my air still, in doing so harvesting the foreshots for fire lighter, before collecting the head and hearts. This is the stripping run.
4. Using the tails left in the air still to bake a delicious loaf of bread.
5. Distilling twice more on two spirit runs to make a triple distilled spirit.
6. Bottling the vodka.
7. Tasting the vodka.
The result is a very decent and smooth vodka, which incredibly tastes just like vodka (yes I was amazed too).
