John Travolta - Here is more classic 1970's TV gold -- John Travolta's audition for Welcome Back, Kotter, recorded on March 24, 1975. Mr. Travolta was 21 at the time.
A few interesting facts. He says his character's name is Eddie Barbarini, not Vinnie Barbarino as the character would be named. Also, the clapper says "Kotter Test." I have read that the original title of the show was "Kotter." When John Sebastian was hired to write the them song he felt that the name Kotter wasn't very lyrical and he could not rhyme anything with the name so he wrote "Welcome Back" as the main theme of the song. The producers liked that theme and named the show "Welcome Back, Kotter."
