Office Extinct Species: A Eulogy for the Fallen (and Funnier)
Do you recall when all offices were sterile places of bland beige walls and lukewarm coffee?
I do. And it was awful and yet charming in its own way.
Before the rise of Work from home and endless Zoom calls, the office was a wild savanna.
Majestic creatures roamed this land, now only whispered about in tales of old.
The Snack Hoarder:
➣ This elusive beast would vanish with entire boxes of cookies
➣ Emerging hours later with crumbs dusting their keyboard like a furry yeti.
➣ Sadly, the pandemic scattered the snack hoarders
➣ Sending them into permanent hibernation.
The Printer Whisperer:
➞ A legendary figure who tamed even the most ancient printers from their paper jams.
➞ Now, replaced by soulless IT bots who mutter incantations of "driver updates"
➞ And leave us mortals to wrestle with toner ghosts.
The Meeting Bard:
➢ This master of the PowerPoint could spin a yarn about stapler shortages
➢ And make it more thrilling than any Netflix drama.
➢ Extinct thanks to death by Zoom
➢ Their motivational mantras replaced by awkward silences and dropped calls.
The Office Clown:
➞ The life of the break room
➞ Whose bad jokes were the cardio of our soul-crushing commutes.
➞ Now, video calls haven't quite grasped the nuance of a well-timed puns
➞ The Clown's laughter has faded into the digital void.
The Desk Plant:
➣ A beacon of oxygen in the cubicle jungle
➣ Our steady green friend, outlived trends and to-do lists
➣ A true survivor in the office's shifting sands.
➣ But alas, the rise of home offices and forgetful waterings led to their withering demise.
So raise a lukewarm, sad coffee to these extinct office legends.
We may mourn their passing, but let's find comfort in their enduring spirit.
