If you're analyzing prose, poetry, nonfiction, or any other piece of text, you'll need to know the literary devices highlighted in this video. Some of these literary terms include juxtaposition, tone, diction, mood, paradox, understatement, consonance, and foreshadowing. I'll show you the definitions of each device and concrete examples drawn from some of my favorite books, poems, movies, and TV shows. These devices will definitely help if you are annotating text or taking the AP Lit and AP Lang exams.
