Namaste!

Today you will find a special episode. I have made a big documentary about Nepal for you. Here we will get acquainted with the locals, their traditions and religion, treat ourselves to real masala tea, and learn how to make rosaries and draw mandalas. In general, let’s completely surrender to the flow and immerse ourselves in the atmosphere of this extraordinary country.

I’ll tell you about my first impressions of Kathmandu: the stench, the ubiquitous merchants, a lot of children, stray dogs and temples. We'll talk about the marks between the eyebrows of locals: what they are like and how they differ, and then we'll go into a very ordinary courtyard. Nepalese Yograzbazratsare will gladly talk about the history of the courtyard, which was built by his ancestors about 400 years ago, about his many relatives and about the puja ceremony. And he will also treat me to a traditional local drink - masala tea.

Then we find ourselves in another courtyard, in the middle of which grows the sacred Bodhi tree. Here, from the seller of the rosary, we learn why this tree is considered sacred, as well as about the characteristics of the rosary and their varieties.

We will also meet a guide named Gopal. He will talk about Swayambhunath - one of the places of power in Nepal and about the legend about the emergence of the Kathmandu Valley. From him we learn about the religions widespread in this country and the meaning of the word “namaste”. Gopal will talk about the differences between rich and poor, about local schools and about the castes that exist in Nepal. And in the taxi we will talk with a local, learn about the statute of limitations for cars in Nepal, and also about why he became a Christian.

Next I will go to Boudhanath, where I will walk in circles around the Buddha stupa, recite mantras, and then feel the call of the mandala from the shop opposite. The seller will tell us about the strict rules for making mandalas and about the long training in this craft.

We will also visit the city of Lalitpur and visit the palace square, where kings and queens once lived. A local guide will tell you about the history of the place, the gods whose statues are located in the square, as well as the main architectural styles of Nepal.

Arriving in the former capital - Bhaktapur, we will visit a local Nepalese. He will tell us about the Newari people, as well as introduce him to his extended family and talk about the cost of living here.

In Pokhara we will meet another hero. He will show you how to cook dal correctly, tell you about his daily routine and about the family temple. We’ll also meet a girl, Keshu, who will treat us to local street food and tell us about Nepali arranged marriages.
