The MAP/BARO switch solenoid valve switches between ambient barometric pressure and intake manifold pressure according to the voltage signal sent from the ECM. When the sensor is supplied with a voltage by the ECM, it turns on to monitor ambient barometric pressure. When the sensor turns off, it monitors the intake manifold pressure. This was performed on a 1997 Nissan Maxima. Please check with your vehicle's repair manual for testing parameters.
