Every year the new RAF
Every year the new RAF Typhoon display pilot gets to choose their chosen charity, and this year's display pilot, Flt Lt Matt Brighty chose a new, small charity 'Head Up'.
HEAD UP are a new UK charity set up by four veterans, intending to promote mental health awareness for UK Armed Forces, and help forces personnel build a positive mindset and improve their mental resilience. We are on a mission to raise enough money to develop a holistic and positive 7-day retreat. This retreat will be there for all those who have served, and are still serving, in any service of the UK military, who wish to improve their mindset and outlook.
Their aim is to raise funds to establish The Retreat, which will be a safe haven for serving military staff and veterans to enable them to deal with mental health difficulties. The Retreat will be a non-militarised, luxury, eco-friendly location with comfortable accommodation, and many other restorative facilities.
The Ted Coningsby Squadron linked up with Brighty's chosen charity and set up a 'Just Giving' page directly to the charity. It is a proud moment to official announce that with ALL YOUR donations, we have raised £9110!
Please enjoy the footage of Ted flying with Flt Lt Matt Brighty, Callsign "ANARCHY1" flying in the very aircraft that Ted flew in for it's maiden flight, ZJ914...Blackjack. Ted and Brighty departed from TED HQ, aka RAF Coningsby and headed out to Poland.
We would like to thank ALL of you who have donated to Ted's flight with Brighty and I must admit, the amount raised is phenomenal. Over £9000 raised is tremendous and I am know for a fact that not only the RAF Typhoon display are shocked at the amount raised by our little bear, but so too are the charity. I know for a fact that the HEAD UP charity never expected this and I can confess that I myself never expected this either!
Ladies, Gents and Teddy Bears... the money is going to help the very people that defend and protect our country. The Head Up charity will also help those who have defended and protected our country too, so it is for both serving and veterans. I have motto where we are the example for our serving and ex serving... "They never forgot us". The deep motto "Lest We Forget" is something we must never ever forget but at the same time I would like our fallen and heroes to say that we never forgot them...
