Here, you can download a Thermo-mechanical model for Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM). WAAM is an AM process to create large scale parts and the scale can reach a few meters. This model has been used in the following paper and it was validated by other models in the literature review.

This model was used to study the rolling effect on residual stress in the manufactured part. In order to predict the residual stress, it is necessary to get the thermal history and use it as input for the mechanical model. Since it is time-consuming to create the model by Abaqus CAE, three Python code was developed to prepare the model. In addition, a FORTRAN code was developed for the DFLUX subroutine to apply the heat source model to the material.  For adding material we use the element birth technique by using Python code. The video is short so you can learn this in less than 15 minutes and you will have the output and Abaqus CAE file.
