BNP-Jamaat's blockade fails to garner public support and loses participation

The ongoing spell of blockade by BNP and Jamaat e Islami failed to garner any public support as people in large numbers turned out on city streets.

Across the capital, the public and vehicular movement appeared as normal as the general mass did not pay heed to BNP Jamaat’s call to stay inside the home according to media reports.

On the other hand, several rallies brought out by BNP Jamaat men in support of the blockade witnessed the participation of less than 20 men, a clear sign of outright rejection of BNP Jamaat’s call for blockade and arson attacks.

In Manikganj, a group of blockaders, holding placards of Tarique Rahman, came up with a rally attended by less than 20 men.
Brandishing sticks, another group with only 14 blockaders brought out another rally in Faridpur to support the blockade. In Sirajganj, only seven men joined a rally that Jamaat brought out.

Such a ridiculously low turn-out in these rallies further indicated violence on general people led by BNP-Jamaat under the pretext of blockade held no public acceptance. The combine has become isolated from the public, unlike the credentials of any democratic party.
