One of the most common
One of the most common questions I get is what investments you should make in order to retire early. and more importantly, how should you spend that money effectively to make sure it doesn't run out.
I've seen many videos that cover the topic of retirement, and most commonly you will hear about the 4% rule.
But theres 2 major problems with this method. Timing, and portfolio type. So let me explain.
The 4% rule was established and published in an article by an analyst in 1994. And it was developed based on a traditional stocks and bond portfolio with a 50/50 split.
The conclusion was that withdrawing 4% every year, adjusted for inflation, a portfolio with this type of allocation would have the highest probability of never running out, a probability of 95%.
But the investing landscape is much different now.
There are so many unique and interesting financial products available, that the 4% rule simply doesn't apply anymore.
Secondly, it doesn't account for sequence of returns. And What I mean by this is the order in which investment returns are earned can significantly impact a portfolios longevity.
In this video I analyze how a retirement portfolio would look like if a 3rd category was added to the traditional 50/50 portfolio. One that includes high dividend Income Assets, like covered call ETFs
You see these assets could be considered as a subset of equities, but because they use a option strategy for income generation, their risk return profiles are vastly different.
