FUSHIMI INARI TAISHA | HIKING TO THE TOP OF MT. INARI

We visited the Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine and hiked to the top of Mount Inari in Kyoto!

The Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine is a Shinto Shrine most notable for its red torii which are traditional Japanese gates. This shrine is dedicated to Inari, the god most associated with business, prosperity and rice. The many red torri that draw tourists from all over the world have actually been donated by those wishing to receive good luck, fortune and prosperity in business. If you look closely, all the black writing on the red gates are actually names of those who donated that particular gate as well as the date of when it happened.

The red gates lead all the way up to the summit of Mt Inari and along the way you will many smaller shrines as well as a beautiful view of Southern Kyoto. Along the way you will also find countless statues of foxes. The fox is said to be the messenger of god Inari and you can find them wearing red ceremonial bibs.

This is a beautiful secret place in Kyoto and definitely a must visit!
