In our Modern Gaming landscape there is a constant debate as to whether our games should be designed for a Casual or Competitive audience. This video essay will analyze and discuss this conundrum and the effect it is having on our game design and the discourse surrounding it. My goal is to give you an alternative perspective to this frequently polarizing topic.

Topics under consideration include Game Physics, Map Design, Weapon Design, Sandbox Design, Movement and Mobility mechanics, Game Pillars, Aim Assist, Ease of Use, Accessibility, Depth, Esports and more.

Gameplay featured in this commentary include Halo, Halo Infinite, Call of Duty, MW3 (Modern Warfare 3), Gears of War, Rocket League, Titanfall, Quake...though this topic is applicable for most modern AAA games especially FPS titles. (Apex Legends, Warzone, Overwatch, etc)
