Far, far away, a lone little Citrine Wagtail was spotted among a flock of Eastern Yellow Wagtails foraging in a sea of verdant green grass.
What was unusual is that unlike the yellow Wagtails, this Lone Citrine Wagtail is a vagrant to Singapore, meaning that our little island was not on its supposed landing spot.
This little fellow is an immature, lacking the bright yellow head of the adult in breeding plumage. Nevertheless, it stood out among the other Wagtails as it was slightly bigger in size, with a yellow head & neck, & a prominent supercilium (eyebrow)
Oblivious of the attention it was generating, it continued foraging nonchalantly amongst the rest of the birds. True to its name, its little tail couldn't stop wagging!
Prior to this, the last sighting of this bird was in 2018.
