Teaching movie: Pull apart basins (structural geology)

A pull apart basin is a basin formed when a kink or bend in a strike-slip fault forms a releasing section with normal faults along strike. This simple block model shows a simple example of a pull apart basin with two offset strike slip faults and two normal faults at ninety degrees to the strike slip faults that define the centre block that moves down with increasing slip.
