Does sand and other debri blow back into your pool? Here is a video of me changing my filter grid material on my pentair fns plus filter. I will replace old torn grid material with gridsocks.
I found Gridsocks when I was looking for an affordable solution to torn up grids. The plastic skeleton must be in good shape or you cannot use the gridsock.
Update 09/2022: I still have these gridsock and clean them yearly. Lots of people asking about them but I believe they went out of business. Their website doesn't work for years. I did a google search for gridsock and some pool company looks to be selling them so not sure if they copied it or bought it.
Update 10/27/2019:. Yearly cleaning and all gridsocks in great condition like the other updates below. I don't think the gridsocks company is around any longer so just be sure to do a yearly deep cleaning and if your material rips or one of the grids breaks just buy an aftermarket entire grid on Amazon.
Update 9/18/2015: Yesterday I did a deep cleaning of the DE filter again, removing all grids and hosing each one down and inspecting them. All of the grids and gridsocks (material) are in great shape after one year. I highly recommend these as a great alternative to complete grid replacement.
Update Dec 2016. Did another yearly 'deep cleaning' in November and all grids and grid material were in awesome shape!
