1.state the law of length of vibrating string
Ans.
The frequency if stationary transverse vibrations of a stretched string is inversely proportional to its vibrating length when the tension And mass per unit length of a wire are kept constant.
2.What is fundamental mode of vibration?
Ans.
The fundamental mode of vibration is the basic mode or the simplest normal mode of vibration in which the string vibrates in asingle loop. It is denoted by n≈1
What is resonance?
Ans.
Resonance is the phenomenon in which the frequency of applied vibration is equal to the natural frequency of that body. Then the body starts vibrating with a very large amplitude.
4. What is forced vibrations?
Ans.
The vibrations of a body under the action of external periodic force in which the body vibrates with a frequency equal to external periodic force (driving force ) other than natural frequency are called forced vibrations. Ex. Guitar played by artist
5. Explain why holes are kept on the side of sonometer box?
Ans.
The holes in the sonometer box acts as the way through which the frequency if vibration of a string communicated inside the hollow portion of the box. For the constant transmissions of vibrations inside the hollow portion of the box the holes are kept at the side of a box.
