RR7739/5 OGADEN THE SOMALIS TAKE OVER - CUTS 5/7

(3 Oct 1977) Africa's latest and fiercest battle is being fought in the
strategically crucial Horn of Africa, where the West
Somalia Liberation Front has over the past two
months conquered at least 60% of Ethiopia's Ogaden
Province.  This report shows the Somali gains, the
wreckage left behind, and talks to a Somali commander
and nomads and discusses the implications of the
conflict for the continent as a whole.
