If a patient has missed
If a patient has missed her period or during the period also be there is bleeding happening. If it is exactly on the date and the bleeding is happening, then it could be a periods. If she is expecting a pregnancy, then she can always do pregnancy tests while having her periods. So having her periods is not a contraindication to doing a urine pregnancy test. Urine pregnancy is to detect beta HCG that is the Human Chorionic Gonadotropin in the urine. It can be detected in the blood as early as 5 days before the expected periods. In the urine it is detected at the missed period. If the result is negative, you can almost be sure that it is negative. If it is positive, it can be an implantation bleed or any biochemical pregnancy or an abnormal pregnancy. So it has to be followed up by the gynecologist. So the blood test for the HCG can be done. Serial tests can be done to find out what is happening. And preferably what needs to be told is that when you are collecting the urine for the urine pregnancy test during bleeding, it is better to keep the bottle little away from the urine so that the blood directly doesn’t fall in to the urine and you do not land ion to a too much bloody urine. Second thing is you can follow it up with a blood test. These are the tests and definitely it can be done.
