Chinese Cuisine Tonton in Matsudo, Chiba Prefecture, is a long-established machuka (Chinese restaurant) that has been in business for 43 years. The restaurant has faced challenges such as the new Corona and the death of the first owner, but granddaughter Honoka Ikeda and childhood friend Jenjen Xu Weijuan stood up and devised a menu that included a one-pound steak fried rice and a mega-size hamburger fried rice menu, and used TikTok and other social networking sites to publicise the menu. This attracted a lot of attention, especially from young people, and the restaurant became popular with a large number of followers and queues. These two university students have played a central role in conveying the appeal of Machichuuka to the younger generation, while also responding to the new era of the beloved Machichuuka restaurant.
