Mr Shinwell answering (natural sound): "Yes, of course, but I'm not the only one. On the labour side I think they are unanimous in their opposition.



There are a very large number of members on the conservative side who are uneasy about it and very troubled in their minds about it." CU. Bill Symon with Mr Shinwell speaking. CU. Mr Shinwell continues to speak: "And it must be made quite clear that there is no personal feeling in this matter. This is of public concern the question whether somebody is trying to claim a privilege that is not available to the ordinary person of the community."

We are trying to find ways and means." Symon: "Have you any hope of doing so, Sir?" Duke: "We have to somehow or other." Symon: "What would happen if you didn't?" Duke: "Well, I imagine they would come and grab the lot."
