There were some great learnings on this nine as I scaled back my input from hole 14 onward. I needed to see what happens with AJ in normal conditions without me. I had only just met him so I had never seen him play.

I found the caddie, while really really good on the greens, was actually hindering him in terms of club selections and shot selection advice. I needed to prove a point to make the connection in AJ's mind that it's preferable to listen to me over the caddie.

Unfortunately, knowing how to break 100 is not what the caddies learn. I don't mean to bring them down as they are there mainly for a job with minimum requirement of pulling the bag, so nothing is to be expected in terms of knowledge of the game. I have met only two so far who actually play the game.

AJ is quite happy to let me lead him now and not fall back on what the caddie suggests. She wants him to hit it to specific spots on the green with the precision of a professional to have easier putts. Unfortunately, what AJ needs to shoot under 100 is some advice from a golfer and a playa.

He did shoot his all time record score in golf of 108 which is 6 shots better than his best and 12 shots better than his usual score. That's a 10% reduction in one round. A few putts here or there and some more energy back side, we should be under 100 son.

I learned a few things to take with me when I shoot the next installment with AJ on September 18th 2018, one day after releasing this video.

We will focus on:
1. Putting to reduce the three putts
2. Relying on the caddie's advice only on the greens.
3. Removing the 5 iron - didn't hit a single one that was very good.
4. Using the cart all the way round, or for the back nine at least, but we need to conserve energy. AJ got very tired by the 13th.
5. No beer!

AJ has hit the range since we played this round and I am looking forward to his progress. I hope we can get him under 100 in the next round. If not, I will never give up and keep going until we do.
