AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3960x RTX 3070 HDET build and benchmarks. 24 cores for gaming?

When the opportunity to purchase a Threadripper 3960x CPU + motherboard and ram came along I simply could not resist and I had to have it. I do not really subscribe to the trend of reusing old server hardware for gaming - I don't dislike the practice as it is a very useful way of reusing old hardware instead of throwing it away, but i always felt that the trade-offs for gamers aren't really worth it.
