Tahajjud prayer is a practice of Prophet Muhammad and a significant promise from Allah.
It involves praying at one-third of the night after waking up until dawn breaks.
Benefits of Tahajjud Prayer:
In Surah Al-Dhariyat, verse 18, Allah mentions seeking forgiveness in the early hours of the day.
This verse signifies that Allah recognizes those who perform this prayer as devout believers.
During the last third of the night, our Lord descends to the lowest heaven to answer prayers, grant requests, and forgive sins, as stated by Abu Hurairah in Sahih Muslim and Bukhari.
By performing Tahajjud prayer, you can:
Attain Allah's pleasure and draw closer to Him
Ward off demons and protect yourself from evil
Follow the practice of Prophet Muhammad
Illuminate your grave with divine light, cleanse your soul, and resist temptations
Hadith about Dua in Tahajjud
Rasulullah (s.a.w) said, May Allah have mercy on the servant who gets up to pray at night and wakes up his wife, who also prays. If she (the wife) does not want to rise under the stress of sleep, he sprinkles water on her face (in love).
May Allah have mercy on the woman who gets up at night and prays and wakes up her husband, and he also prays. If she doesn’t want to wake up, he wakes her up by (lovingly) sprinkling water on her face. (Abu Dawud: 1450)
The virtue of Tahajjud is so great that no one is completely deprived of sleep, so the Prophet (PBUH) used to encourage praying at least two Rakats before going to sleep.
It is mentioned in the Hadith Sharif, “Wake up at night is a difficult and heavy thing, so when you recite the Witr (before going to bed), pray two rak’ahs (nafl). Please get up later in the last night, otherwise these two rak’ahs will be a means of attaining the virtue of Qiyamul Lail.’
