When it comes to great Jewish Delis on the East Coast, everyone immediately thinks of Katz's Delicatessen. Katz's Deli is such an iconic restaurant that thousands, perhaps millions, of people flock to Katz's Deli in New York City every year to eat the legendary Katz's pastrami on rye and the equally legendary Katz's corned beef. It's hard to imagine a deli as great as Katz's, but what if the only other deli on the East Coast that rivals Katz's is not actually in NYC? What if it's actually in New Jersey?

Back then, the rivalry was between Katz's Deli and Carnegie Deli. The Katz's Deli vs Carnegie Deli debate for who made the best pastrami in NYC was an ongoing one that unfortunately ended when Carnegie Deli closed in 2016. Don't fret though! Carnegie Deli and Harold's New York Deli are intertwined, as Harold's New York Deli was actually opened by people who used to run Carnegie Deli. They have taken their talents, not to South Beach, but almost to South Jersey, in the central Jersey town of Edison, NJ. Today, Harold's New York Deli makes not only the best pastrami in New Jersey, but some of the best pastrami in the world!

If Harold's New York Deli sounds familiar with you, it may be because you have seen the Harold's New York Deli Man vs. Food episode. But it's not just Adam Richman who loves Harold's Deli, it's beloved by people all over New Jersey for making some of the best Jewish kosher style food.
