December 5th, 1987. Evander Holyfield fought the "Camden Buzzsaw" in a rematch after their epic 1st bout back in July 1986. This time, Holyfield’s IBF & WBA World Cruiserweight Championships were on the line.

Prefight records; Holyfield 16(12)-0, Qawi 28(17)-4-1.

Going into the fight, Holyfield had beaten top oppositions in Chisanda Mutti, Ossie Ocasio, Rickey Parkey & Tyrone Booze. On the other hand, the veteran Qawi had notable wins over Eddie Davis, James Scott, Lee Roy Murphy, Leon Spinks, Michael Greer, Mike Rossman, Piet Crous, & Matthew Saad Muhammad (2x).

For the 2nd meeting, Holyfield employed lateral movement and the use of angles from the opening bell instead of going toe to toe with Qawi like he did before. He also fought from a distance and avoid close range exchanges which proved to be truly effective as Holyfield decked the No. 1 WBA contender twice in the 4th round after largely controlling the fight with his strategy.

In the 2nd knockdown, Qawi fell face first on the canvas and shook his head as referee Randy Neumann counted him out.

In April 1988, Evander Holyfield made history by becoming the 1st ever Undisputed World Cruiserweight Champion by beating Carlos de León via TKO8 to bag the WBC Cruiserweight Title to add this collection of IBF & WBC Titles.

After the victory over Carlos de León, Holyfield moved up to the Heavyweight division where he would achieved tremendous success and became one of the legends of the sport.
