Before firing the wood stove
Before firing the wood stove for the first time each season, it is important for me to check AND clean the chimney. In this video I use a simple chimney sweep tool that I purchased from Amazon and it gets the job done nicely.
A dirty chimney can cause poor airflow and draft issues. But, worst of all, it could also cause a chimney fire. We want to avoid that at all costs! There may be a quicker and / or less messy way to do this job, but the method I've been using these last few years has been tried and true. In total, I spent about 2.5 hours on this project and that included moving the camera to different positions.
The tools that I used to complete this job:
- Milwaukee M12 cordless drill
- Gardus SootEater RCH205-B sweep kit
- Milwaukee M12 cordless impact
- Ridgid shop vacuum
- 3M N95 mask
