Tour of the S.O.A.C. USDOT Experimental Subway Car

In the 70s a State of the Art Car was created to test new technology in subway cars. These two test cars ran temporarily  in many cities including Boston, New York, and Chicago. These were very advanced especially for the time and featured interior luxeries such as padded seats, carpeted floors, and tables. Although the cars were never mass-produced, the technology from them such as air condition and air ride suspension lived on in future subway cars. Today they reside on display at the Seashore trolley museum in Maine.
