One of the best things
One of the best things about my Hobie Mirage Lynx kayak is how light it is when I have to load it up on my cartop roof rack. If I am not in anyone's way at the boat ramp, at the end of the tournament I'll break down the Lynx, talking off all of the fishing accessories and stripping it down to the naked 47 pounds. That light weight, plus the flatter shape, make it easy for me to pick up my Lynx and carry it back to the car. Yes, it would be just as easy to use my Hobie cart, and if there is anyone else at the boat ramp I will just quickly put the Lynx on the cart and clear out of the way, but sometimes it is fun to do it the simple way! 🤣
One important note is that the Lynx must not be lifted up by the rails, those attachment points are not built for that kind of stress. I am lifting 100% of the weight of the Lynx with the handle on the kayak, and I am using my other hand on the rails to keep the kayak in the correct position to carry, not putting any weight on the rail.
