Hobie Lynx Hull Repair and Protection (plz. read update in description)

** UPDATE **  The Waterproof Gorilla Tape was not the answer I had hoped for!  It would work okay for small patches, but once I had it covering much of my hull I discovered the tape was rubbery and gripped concrete, so now it is almost impossible to get the boat to slide on concrete boat ramps.  I had originally intended to buy Waterproof T-Rex Tape which is less rubbery and might be less grippy, so I might try that in the next off season. Some people have been suggesting Kydex sheets, but I am not sure how much weight that would add to the Lynx.  Back to the drawing board on protecting the Lynx Hull so that I can enjoy this boat for many more years to come!


After two seasons of fishing from my Hobie Lynx on the Kayak Bass Tournament Trail, the hull has accumulated a few dents and dings. So this weekend I took it up to the Strictly Sail & Kayak shop and scrubbed and scraped off all the old patches and repairs and started fresh with the expert help of Steve Tacy, patriarch of the Strictly Sail family.  Using a 5-minute epoxy we patches a few spots, then applied waterproof Gorilla Tape for protection. I think it turned out great!
