The Following Video is a continuation of my series on Classical German Philosophy and German Idealism with Dr. Ryan Haecker, who is an Assistant Professor of Theology at the University of Austin, in Texas. In this video, Dr. Haecker helps navigates us through a detailed discussion of the rich, and dynamic Patristic sources found in German Idealism. This leads our discussion to speak about important leading figures like: Origen of Alexandria, Pseudo-Dionysius the Areopagite, Gregory of Nyssa, Meister Eckhart, Jakob Boehme, Franz von Baader, Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph Schelling, and Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel.

Dr. Ryan Haecker is an Assistant Professor of Theology at the University of Austin, in Texas and is also currently a Rome Prize research Fellow in residence at the American Academy in Rome. Dr. Haecker’s research explores the intersection of Platonism, Medieval Scholasticism, and modern idealism for theology. He is currently writing a book titled “Restoring Reason: Theology of Logic in Origen of Alexandria which is on theological interpretations of logic in Origen, the Church Fathers and its contemporary significance for Modern Theology.
