The Following video is a continuation of my series on Classical German philosophy and Post-Kantian thought. In this episode of the Young Idealist, I am joined by Dr. Christopher P. Noble who is a Professor of philosophy at the New College of Florida in Sarasota. Dr. Noble helps navigate the viewer through the complex life and philosophy of the Early Modern Philosopher Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz (1646-1716). Dr. Noble explains that Leibniz's philosophy is extremely important for both the period of Classical Germany philosophy and for contemporary philosophy as well (Heidegger & Deleuze).

Dr. Noble's presentation is extremely detailed and wonderfully articulate and stresses the importance behind Leibniz's thought for other academic disciplines such as Mathematics, and the life sciences.

Dr. Noble carefully guides us through key elements throughout Leibniz's body of work including key concepts from: The Discourse on Metaphysics (1686), The Theodicy (1710), The New Essays (1765), and the Monadology (1714).

Dr. Christopher P. Noble is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the New College of Florida. His work centers on Leibniz’s natural philosophy and his reception of the mechanical conception of nature, as well as the global development and interaction of philosophical ideas.
