What Could've Been: Gary Balough

If I changed just a few words in this story, you'd think I would be reading straight from a Miami Vice script. However, that's not the case.

I could go on forever about the plethora of motorsports figures who have gotten in trouble with the law, but one man's story is most intriguing to me. "Hot Shoe" Gary Balough was one of the most dominant short track drivers of all time. He was all but destined to be a star at NASCAR's top level. Unfortunately for Gary, a massive amount of debt combined with Gary's impatience led him to get involved in drug smuggling. This is the story of Gary Balough.
