On August 17th, 1975 NASCAR hosted the Talladega 500. The race was delayed an entire week due to heavy rainstorms, and NASCAR’s hand was forced to wait it out. 60,000 fans packed Talladega Super Speedway to watch 50 cars race 188 laps on the fastest track in America. Unfortunately just 7 laps into the race, 45 year old Tiny Lund was killed in a horrifying wreck, that could’ve been even worse if a couple things went differently.
