One of the biggest mistakes a lot of people make when it comes to their core routine is neglecting the obliques. And it’s a big reason why people struggle to get those picture-perfect abs even after tons of effort. So to help you guys out, I created this quick guide on how to do oblique crunches for beginners so you can start rounding out your core routine in a much better way.

Now, when it comes to properly training your obliques, the oblique crunches are really all you need. As you’ll discover in this video, simply adding a few sets of this exercise to your core routine will take care of the sides of your abs, and you’ll be on your way to having well-rounded abs.

How to Do Oblique Crunches for Beginners

When it comes to doing oblique crunches properly, especially as a beginner, the correct setup is essential. Because as you’ll discover in this video and when you try them on your own, even the slightest change in your trunk or torso can shift the focus of the crunch away from your obliques.

The Form Tutorial (1:26)

As with most accessory exercises like the oblique crunch, the name of the game is staying slow and controlled. Because in addition to creating that constant tension throughout the motion, a slower pace makes it much easier to maintain the proper form.
