The last few weeks have been tough, and if you're home and bored, you might be worried about wasting this precious time.  You may even have considered learning a new language, but with over 6000 on the planet to choose from, which language should you learn during lockdown?

My recommendation is to learn Esperanto.  Why learn Esperanto?  It's a language that was designed to be simple to learn, has regular pronunciation and grammar, and was intended as an international second language, a lingua franca.  If everyone learned Esperanto, you'd be able to directly communicate with every other person on the planet!  Esperanto is not my second language, I would class it as my fourth language, but regardless of whether it's your first or your twenty-first 'foreign' language, I encourage you to think about learning it.

Some of the resources I mention in the video are:

https://www.pasportaservo.org
https://www.duolingo.com
https://www.lernu.net
https://www.ekperanto.net

With about 2 million speakers at the moment, which is a number increasing daily, why not try Esperanto?

In a correction to the video I've since found out that there isn't an Esperanto sign language, rather an 'Esperanto of sign language' known as Gestuno or International Signs.  Apologies for any confusion.

Occasionally people ask about the equipment I use and how I learned languages, so down below are some Amazon affiliate links.  If you click on them and buy anything from Amazon during that session I get a few pennies which help me to continue creating these videos.  Thank you!

For learning languages I can really recommend the Michel Thomas method.  Here are links to a few of his courses
