G Protein Coupled Receptors - Cell Signaling

The signal/ligand binds to the  G protein coupled receptor changing its shape. This activates the G protein by replacing GDP by GTP. The G protein, now active, diffuses along the membrane and activates another membrane protein, usually an enzyme.
