VN24 - 11.03.2022 - Dortmund / Germany - After a traffic accident on Friday 11.3. on the street Königsheide in Dortmund, the 51-year-old female passenger succumbed to her injuries in hospital. According to first investigations several calls were received at the police control center around 13:30 o'clock that a man would drive apparently under influence of alcohol together with a female passenger in a VW Golf. The alarmed officials found only a short time later the looked for car in a ditch at the road Königsheide. Apparently, the car had left the road at high speed in a slight left-hand bend to the right and crashed into a tree, catching fire. Together with eyewitnesses, police officers rescued the two occupants from the now burning vehicle and extinguished the flames with a fire extinguisher. Until the arrival of rescue services, the first responders and the police officers took care of the two seriously injured. A rescue helicopter and an ambulance took the 55-year-old driver from Dortmund and the 51-year-old female passenger from Lünen to surrounding hospitals. Unfortunately, the woman succumbed to her serious injuries later that evening.
