A Day Out at Khon Kaen Airport with Crosswinds! // August 3, 2019

There were certain periods of the year, when the seasonal winds become exceptionally strong. Today at Khon Kaen Airport, SW--WSW winds were blowing at 14-17 kts, causing incoming aircraft to sway significantly during approach and departure. Moreover, HS-CBH, FD A320neo, decided to abort RWY03 approach 3nm out and performed the spectacular visual RWY21 landing. Needless to say, I've been waiting for a whole year for this!

Nok also swapped regular Q400s for the larger B738 for its noon flight. Nok B738 remains a rarity at KKC. The last time it landed here was more than 4 months ago.

To sum up, today ranks as one of my most remarkable days of aircraft spotting at KKC!
