Last AirAsia Flight to Khon Kaen before temporary suspension // March 31, 2020

As impact on commercial aviation from COVID-19 reverberates around the world, Thai carriers are no exception. Thai Lion Air (SL/TLM) had suspended operations earlier on March 25, while Thai AirAsia (FD/AIQ) cut international flights and tried to maintain domestic operations.

Unfortunately, passenger volume continues to plummet and they finally call it quit. AirAsia has suspended all passenger flights until April 30, at the earliest. This left Khon Kaen with only one regular passenger flight per day, flown by THAI Smile (WE/THD). Nok Air (DD/NOK) is poised to return on April 10 but you can't be sure about Nok, since they had cancelled flight with little prior notice, even in normal circumstances.

For aviation enthusiasts like me, this is very depressing.....
