Pores are a part of normal skin anatomy. In some people, it can look more prominent especially on nose and cheeks when it is referred to as open pores. Here are a few things which can help: ✅Use retinol serum at night. This helps in increasing collagen production which will support the structures around the hair follicle making open pores less prominent. ❌Not ice : though ice can temporarily shrink pores, applying ice directly on skin can irritate the skin. Ice water dip can be used as a quick fix before make up but there are no long term benefits. ✅Use salicylic & niacinamide serum Open pores are more prominent due on oily skin due to excessive sebum production from the oil forming glands. Salicylic acid helps in reducing oil from the glands hence reducing pore size. Niacinamide also reduce oil production and in wears ceramide synthesis form skin which improves skin appearance. ❌Not physical scrubs : scrubs with gritty particles remove upper dead skin layer which can make the open pores look less prominent but it can cause micro tears on the skin. It is always better to use chemical exfoliating which will shed dead skin layer more uniformly ✅Silicone based sunscreens Silicones form a smooth layer on the skin thereby reducing the appearance of pores especially if you plan to put make up over it, it form a uniform base. Silicones are like a mesh and do not cause acne so can be used by people with all skin types. ❌Expensive primers They are essentially just silicone creams with a higher price tag. ⚠️Disclaimer: For educational and public awareness purposes only.
