Inside an Easter Egg

A helical X-ray CT scan by YXLON allowed the entire Easter egg including the wrapping to be scanned at a pixel size of 70 microns. Image processing of the reconstructed volumes was relatively easy due to the lack of cone beam artefacts allowing the easy separation of the packaging and components within the egg. The video shows how modern visualization packages can be used to deconstruct X-ray CT data and highlight key features as a combination of 3D renderings and reconstructed orthslices.
