This is the best of Laxey, Snaefell and Ramsey segment of the Isle of Man episode of DIY Destinations.  The host Charles Huang will visit all the iconic landmarks, The Great Laxey Mine, including the world famous Laxey Waterwheel, the largest working waterwheel in the world. Built in 1854 to pump water from the Glen Mooar and named "Lady Isabella" after the wife of Lieutenant Governor Charles Hope, who was the island's governor at that time. We'll also take the Snaefell Mountain Railway to visit the the summit of highest peak on the Isle of Man.  First in operation in 1895, the railway operates from March to November.  The 8 km long railway, is built to 3 ft 6 in gauge and uses a Fell Incline Railway System centre rail for braking on the steep gradients. It is electrified using overhead wires at 550 volts direct current, with bow collectors.  Lastly, we'll take the electric tram to visit the town of Ramsey and main attraction, the Grove Museum.  Built by the Gibbs, a wealthy merchant family from Liverpool as their summer retreat. Later it became the permanent family home. The Gibb sisters, Alice and Janet continued to live in the house until their deaths in the 1970’s.
