In my previous video I talked about how I felt that the GI (Gastroenterologist) that I was seeing at the time had misdiagnosed me and that continuing treatment with him was not in my best option. Many of my practitioners at the time agreed with me on this, so I decided to see a new GI.

This is the video of my first consult with the new GI, which was actually who I was first referred to, however I had to see someone else in the meantime as his waiting list was so long. It ended up working out really well as I had booked it in advance and my appointment with the new GI worked out to be only a couple of weeks after the misdiagnosis. It also was a benefit that I had already done a lot of testing with the other GI before I saw this new GI today :)

The new GI agreed with myself and my other practitioners when I said that I felt that the diagnosis the first GI gave me of "IBS, anxiety and food avoidance" didn't seem to fit.

He said, although people with severe GI issues can experience anxiety and naturally avoid food that causes symptoms their things are not what is at the root of my issues.

I have Bowel Dysmotility (this means the muscles and nerves in my bowels do not work properly). Even though my gastric emptying study came back normal he said I do have Delayed Gastric Emptying on a day to day basis (because of the dysmotility in my bowel, everything gets very backed up. This affects my entire digestive tract, causing food to sit for longer than normal in my stomach). In my case, these issues are caused by a connective tissue disorder called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome .

Thank you for watching and following along on my journey, I hope this helped or encouraged you in some way.
